On November 2024, after finishing up a full card collection of original 150 Pokemon, I decided to reignite the ‘collecting spark’. But wanted to restrict it to the original Pokemon and I thought the obvious answer would be Charizard since Charmander was my choice when playing Pokemon Red on the GameBoy. Quickly realized that could get very expensive, thus the search went another way…
What Pokemon would be fun to look for? Go into card shops to find it? Attend events like Collect-a-Con to exchange and trade cards for it? …and still stick to the”OG” Pokemon! Well, what about the original chase?

Wizards Promo (8) Card. This one came from my original collection, thus don’t remember how I got it. Found: Personal Collection.Ancient Mew. Came with the purchase of a ticket to see Pokémon 2000 in theaters; this one still sealed. Found: October 8, 2024 at eBay.comScarlet & Violet Promo Card. The art on this one is what started my collection itch. Found: November 18, 2024 at TCGPlayer.com. Scarlet & Violet 151. This is how I remember mew, seemed very true to its origin. Starting here I got confused as (you’ll see) they are multiple variations of the same card. Found: November 26, 2024 at Collectors Crossroads (Austin, TX). Sword & Shield Darkness Ablaze. As the previous card, is called “Mew V” but without researching it, I would know they are from different packs. Found: November 26, 2024 at Collectors Crossroads (Austin, TX).Celebrations. This one had the 25th Anniversary stamp and thought it was a nice way of starting the collection. Found: November 26, 2024 at Collectors Crossroads (Austin, TX).Southern Island.
